Rule no 1 (Title)

The tournament shall be called the “GAA ANNUAL NATIONAL INTER SCHOOL SPELLING
CONTEST which shall be organized by the Organizing committee of Godavari Alumni Association.

Rule no 2 (Shield)

The shield shall be called the “AISHWARYA SHIELD”. The ownership of the shield shall be with Godavari Alumni
Association.

Rule No 3 (Cost)

The cost of the AISHWARYA SHIELD is Rs. 25,000 ( High School)
The cost of the AISHWARYA SHIELD is Rs. 20,000 ( Primary School)
The school holding the Trophy shall be responsible for any loss or damage to it.

Rule no 4 (Venue)

The teams will be notified about the venue, the date and the time of the contest

Rule no 5 (Entry)

Entry fee Rs 1500 only for the private schools.
Entry fee Rs. 500 only for the Government Schools.

Rule no 6 (Participation or Eligibility)

Participants shall be school teams from Nepal as invited /decided by the Organizing Committee. Only student
who are currently studying in classes 3 to 6 in the participating schools shall be eligible, and must be below 12
years and six months of age for Primary School and only student who are currently studying in classes 7 to 10
shall be eligible, and must be below 16 years and six months of age for High School. The eligibility of the
participants will be decided by the organizing committee. The school ID will be required to verify their grade level
and if necessary their school transcript and result records.

Rule no 7 (Rule of the Game)

All the matches shall be played in conformity with the RULE OF THE GAME promulgated by the Godavari
Alumni Association as presented in the official meeting held with the faculty advisor to clarify the general
rules.

Rule No 8 (Mode of Competition)

The preliminary rounds will be a league in which each team will have to play two matches, with as many
different teams as possible. The quarterfinals and semifinals will be knockout matches. The winner and the
runner up teams from each match will advance to the subsequent rounds. The tie breaker match will be a
buzzer round match. The tie will be declared broken as soon as one team presses the buzzer and answers the
question correctly (for a win) or incorrectly (for a loss).

Rule No 9 (Duration of the Game)

The Duration of the Game shall be of 4 rounds of 8 minutes stop time each, with an interval of 2 minutes in
between the quarters and 5 minutes in the half time.

Rule No 10 (Participants list and substitution)

The respective teams must submit the list of participants in the prescribed form to the Tournament Committee.
a) The participants list must include the name of first three (3) players and a substitute. The total number of player shall
be four (4).
b) Any number of substitutes can play substitutes (including the captain) in any match, and they must be chosen from
the participant registered for the tournament.
c) During and after the quarter final rounds a sum of Rs. 200 will be charged for every substitution made
within the 4 members of the team. However the Team Captain cannot be changed.

Rule No 11(Officials and Participants Conduct)

The teacher present or the principal, in case of absence of teacher, shall be responsible for the discipline of the team.

Rule No 12 (Uniform)

The contestant shall have to attend in their full school uniforms. It is recommended that the contestants be accompanied
by the faculty advisor. The participants are required to have the I.D. cards issued by GAA with them during the contest.
They will not be allowed inside as participants without an I.D. card.

Rule No 13(Protest)

If there is any controversy regarding the participating student, a protest must be lodged with a deposit of Rs. 200 (nonrefundable)
before the next round. The organizing committee will make the decision before the next round. No Protest
shall be considered during and after the tournament .No decision of the Disciplinary Committee shall be questioned in the
court of Law.

Rule No 14(Withdrawal)

No team shall withdraw from the tournament before completing all its matches. Any team withdrawing from the
tournament shall be subject to a penalty decided by the Organizing Committee.

Rule No 15(Participants registration)

The team shall have to register the name of four players. Only registered players from their respective teams can
participate in the tournament. Otherwise, any team who use players without registration as mentioned above will lose the
game concerned if a protest is lodged by the opponent.

Rule No 16(Award of Trophies)

The winners of contest shall be presented with the “Aishwarya Shield”. All four players of the both winning and the
runner up teams will be awarded individual medals .Special awards will be given to the outstanding team and individual
players. The Aishwarya Shield should be returned to Godavari Alumni Association. by the winning Team, at their own
cost, after retaining the shield for 10 months.

Rule No 17(Postponement of Match)

No request for the postponement of the matches shall ordinarily be entertained.

Rule No 18(Abandoned Match)

If a match is abandoned before the expiry of the statutory playing time because of the country’s situation, the match will
be relayed at a later time or date as decided by the Organizing Committee. In case a team refuses to continue to play and
leave the hall before the end of the match or obstructs the continuance of the match, defying the order of the spelling
master, the other team shall be declared as the winner

Rule No 19(Reporting Time)

The team must report 30 minutes before the schedule time. A grace of 15 minutes will be given. After the
schedule, time failing (walkover) will be given to the opponent teams.

Rule No 20(Dispute)

In case of dispute where the application of the article numbers 17, 18 and 19 will be called for, the decision of the
organizing shall be final and no subjected to appeal judicially or otherwise.

Rule No 21(Spelling master and Judge)

In all the matches the spelling master shall be selected from the approved panel of the Referee Committee and the judge
by the Referee Committee for the supervision of the matches. The Referee Committee shall appoint spelling master and
judge for each match. The decision of the Referee Committee shall be final and shall not be subjected to appeal judicially
or otherwise.

Rule No 22(Interpretation of the Rule)

The interpretation of this rule and any other matter not covered under these rules shall be dealt with by the Organizing
Committee whose decision shall be final.

Rule No 23(Disciplinary)

a) The teacher present or the principal, in case of absence of faculty advisor, shall be responsible for the discipline of the
team.
b) Any team, which misbehaves with spelling master, judge and the officials of the contest, shall be debarred from
playing further in the contest.
In such cases, the disciplinary Committee may take more serious action depending upon the nature of misconduct.

Rule No 24

The organizing committee retains the rights to modify the rules and the fixtures. Committee shall appoint spelling master and judge for each match. The decision of the Referee Committee shall be final and shall not be subjected to appeal judicially or otherwise.

Rule No 22(Interpretation of the Rule)

The interpretation of this rule and any other matter not covered under these rules shall be dealt with by the Organizing Committee whose decision shall be final.
